Every morning I wake up happy and peaceful in your arms, Jesus. The life of love I experience with you is an inexpressible and glorious joy …yet my heart hungers for an earthly communion as well; a vital community of other like souls. Where are the days of Acts 2:42? Are they never to come again? I look about and see a world of weekend warriors who find themselves drawn into every imaginable denomination and institution; lifeless places where people never communicate on a heart level; where programs and small groups only touch the hem of Christ’s garment. Where are the “7000” you have reserved who have not “bowed the knee” to the ways of this world? …men and women of God who know Jesus intimately and hunger for life to the full …a life found neither in this world, nor in the institutional religions surrounding them?
O God, my heart hurts for these hidden warriors, and longs for communion with them. I long for your Kingdom to come “…on earth as it is in heaven.” I long for a place where men and women come together to authentically open their hearts to one another in vital and committed community. It is a place where the Holy Spirit truly leads more than men. It is a place where every week a communion meal is shared and God is humbly worshipped in Spirit and in truth through simple expressions of each person’s heart: songs, hymns, poems, pictures and prayers. It is a place where both tears and laughter flow freely. These are those who have been born again. They are people who live life to the full together as a family. Their days are filled with random acts of kindness as their daily walk with God overflows from their hearts. And when they meet, there is a clear difference between them and those who are visiting, yet it is not a difference that shames or ostracizes but rather, it causes them to say “…God is truly among you!” It is a place where openness and honesty is all they know …for when they are hurting or wounded by the world they know how to fight the 'good fight' together. Their fight is for life to the full that comes through deep intimate communion with Christ; to walk in the spirit and remain there. They come together (men with men and women with women) as needed to let Jesus deeply work in the leftover broken places that may still remain ...which in turn brings life to the full again ...even more deeply. This is the Christianity of the ancients; before the days of sacred places and objects. Before the days of programs and pulpits. This is what I seek and this is what my heart was made to long for. I groan and wait ...and am driven back into your arms again. Holy Father, gather together your saints once again …that your Kingdom may truly come on earth as it is in heaven…
